First post on this site! had to be mentioned before writing.

Just created an account to let U guys know what I found out from Telecom

the whole "double data for 12 months" (mytreat site) criteria is, as most of you worked out is marketing to stop people leaving Telecom for the competition.

I asked THS why i wasn't eligible for the offer.. the representative told me I was in an area where there's not much competition..(people leaving telecom to join the enemies, slingshot, orcon etc)  only 1000 people in my town . so they are offering to certain people in the big centres, auckland wellington christchurch etc etc..

My problem was because I didnt want to be on a plan that charged overage (Adventure plan), didn't want Pro..

"the representative" said there was something he could do , offered me $10 account credit for 12 months as a "thank you for being loyal to us".. No contracts, no need to sign anything hesaid I could leave any time i like..
$120 saving over 12 months

So for people that can't get the mytreat double data offer, hope that will work for you guys.. just complain about  the data caps being unreasonable..

Maybe this is spam thread, but I just wanted to share my experience with fellow New Zealanders

For too long didnt read people: There's no TL:DR Tongue out

I got the same offer from homeline solutions.

I'm in Christchurch but I still couldn't get double data...
In my case, the rep said they only offer that to certain exchanges.

I really wanted to change ISP but my father doesn't want to leave his xtra email address... so $10 credit ain't too bad.

Yeah same here with my dad, he believes Telecom is best for certainty and reliability.. i agree, but with the internet evolving, the prices and data caps in NZ are ridiculous..  Adventure is the only safe plan to avoid paying any additional charges, but the 20GB cap, can't do anything with that..

Big Time was a good plan, all they needed to do was softcap it and restrict download speed not make it max linespeed..

The guy told me that there will be new plans, (same as another ISP) where you can buy data packs if you go over so it won't be slowed down.. wonder how expensive telecom will make those...
