Hey ppl,

I'm stuck using a T-Stick at present, thanks to Telecom and there damn full exchanges!!??!?!

Has anyone shared internet from a t-Stick across multiple computers at the same time?

Example: 1 Laptop with T-Stick plugged in, then sharing internet across to another lappy at the same time?

At present we just plug it in to each laptop individually, but its getting annoying!

Any ideas if it can be done?? If so what the easiest way is?

You asked for the easiest solution, not the cheapest, so here it is. :D

http://store.telecom.co.nz/mobile/prepaid/mobilebroadband/telecom-turbo-router

you could try this. It's $500 (!) on prepaid but works on HSPA+ which is pretty fast. (up to 21Mbps)

I was told by someone that my macbook can do it. Have had no need to try but it seems feasible.

You could get a Samsung Galaxy, that has the option to become a portable wireless hotspot ;o)

Windows Internet Connection Sharing maybe? I'd say more about it but I can't remember how to do it, did it back in the day of PCI card based ADSL, sorry - Google is your friend for that one.

Or if you're only connecting 2 laptops, do an ad-hoc wifi connection with a bridge between the T-stick and laptop's wifi?

Just throwing ideas at ya...

Sorry guys not interested in spending more money, its costing me a huge amount in bandwidth now.

I have been trying ICS, and have been sharing the T-Stick, but it doesnt appear to be shared across the network.

Are you sure you can't start ICS from the t-stick to the ethernet port, and stick (no pun intended) a router there, plugging the ethernet cable into the WAN port of said router?

The router gets the external IP address from the ICS and then pass the connection on to whatever is on the network...

I use ICS to pass t-stick access to my Xbox when i'm at the bach. Works fine, just a hassle having both on. But the odd rainy day it's a blessing.

There has already been a bit of talk abou this in the forums recently:

From all reports the cheapest options are the Netcomm ones.

http://www.netcomm.com.au/products/3g

I personally picked up a N3G002W off Tradme for $30, and it works a treat for me.

But be sure to check it's compatible with your TStick since YMMV.

We have two Netcomms here at work. A 3G15Wn. Works fine with T-Stick not with a Vodem. A 3G17Wn which seems to work with all data sticks we have..

Cheers for the information,

Not willing to spend more money on hardware as hoping this is only temp issue, Have spent more than $200 so far in the past 2 weeks on bandwidth plus a second T-Stick, Can't believe Telecom still has full exchanges in todays environment, and their offer of compensation was pathetic!

The Cabinet in this area is currently being upgraded to ADSL2+ and VDSL and Telecom Reps have stated this should fix the issue.

Normally they offer quite a good deal on comparable Mobile data if you were going to have broadband.  Otherwise try calling another rep and see what you get.  There have been numerous other threads talking about people getting Mobile Broadband while they were waiting until they got DSL installed.  Or in rural areas where DSL just doesn't work at all.  Not as cheap as DSL, but a lot cheaper than Mobile Broadband for the normal punter.

It should do, Check out the Chorus site to see when your cabinet is due to be upgraded.  That site is normally pretty accurate.

Yea already done that, Cabinet should be finished sometime during Dec 2010, Chorus are already working on it 300m down the road.

As for a Deal from Telecom for the T-Stick the best they were willing to do was 4Gb for $80 and I have to change the stick over to On account which I wasn't happy about. Have since brought a 2degrees sim for it which is $20 per gb which is way better than Telecom, Faster and better data packs.

The reason I am seriously annoyed with this is I checked prior to moving house and was told Broadband is available and there is no known issues in this area. Two days after moving after several phonecalls we get told "Sorry but Broadband isn't available in your area due to no more ports at the Harewood Exchange"

Both myself and our Boarder work online and require a stable highspeed net connection. Our Boarder has since forked out $100 for a T-Stick, plus nearly $100 worth of Bandwidth via 2degrees.

Connectify is a great app to turn your laptop into a wifi hotspot. works well with a T-Stick, my mate uses it with his PS3.
