Fair use policy
Telecom operates a Fair Use Policy to ensure excessive, inappropriate or unreasonable use by some customers does not affect the quality of the experience or the integrity of the XT Network for other customers.

Mobile Broadband is not intended or designed for prolonged intensive data downloads or uploads (including file sharing and long duration streaming videos). Telecom's fixed broadband services are much more suited to intensive data transfer applications. If in Telecom's reasonable opinion your usage is excessive, inappropriate or unreasonable, Telecom reserves the right to request that you stop using the services in this manner and to contact you to discuss a more appropriate product / service for you. In the event of continued excessive, inappropriate or unreasonable use, Telecom reserves the right to terminate your Mobile Broadband contract.

You don't even need to worry about that t and c. Just use the 4gb as much as you like. Actually, the usage meter is what you need to keep an eye on. Because XT network is too fast if you stream YouTube videos. The t and c is there just to scare some users away. Lol

Na well i actually use upto 8 gb a month, i use it as my main broadband for my computer as i cant get fixed line broadband. I get full reception where i am and yes it is fairly fast. i was just curious cause it says "data cap 4gb" but they say fair use policy applies, How are you supposed to use your data allowance fairly?

the fair usage policy just ensures everyone gets a fair share of the bandwidth pie and people aren't abusing the network. 99% of the time this wont affect you.

Ok. 8gb divided by 30 days, that's 270mb a day you can use. That's how I use my mobile broadband on my iPhone 4. And download a app called "consume" to monitor usage. Or ring 333 to check usage meter. I have been doing that for 4 years. Lol. Mobile data are very expensive therefore very precious. But you just need to manage it properly to avoid penalty fees lol.

Oh. Never mind. As long as you pay that 80 dollars plus additional 30 dollars. Telecom should be EXTREMELY happy to have you on their network. 110 is a lot of money. You think that telecom will disconnect you from their network?? No way. You need to keep a eye on the data usage meter instead of that funny fair usage policy. I have watched heaps of youtube video on XT before, but nobody has called me from telecom, as long as I dont go over 8gb. You will be all right mate.

Just curious, but if you are downloading that much stuff (4-8GB) how come you don't use your fixed line broadband?  surely it would be cheaper, faster, and more reliable,no?

I wouldn't get worried; you'd end up using your 4GB before you end up being a 'problem' for end users - all ISP's have an acceptable use policy even if the whole idea is redundant given there are datacaps that moderate peoples behaviour.
