Had an email account for many years with Telecom, just recently out of the blue they started charging $10 a month (which is alot for an email address) for it So we said we would disconnect it.

Received our current bill $5.60 to disconnect it, cheers Telecom.

This month we also ran out of data so did the usual switch plan, usually at no cost. This time we get charged $9.99 for the change. What happened to one free change per billing cycle?

Add the above to the lies that was fed to us by a Telecom door to door salesmen a couple of months back the ongoing battle to have that issue resolved over the phone and the GST increase letter it's time for a change.

Just recently I was helping out a friend who is stuck in an area where they can't get "broadband" for another 5 years so have been dealing with dialup. I asked who they were with and the cost, 1) Telecom 2) $30 a month + $10 a month for email. Insane pricing.

Anyway after sorting them out they'll be moving to a wireless provider where they will be paying $69 a month for phone line and internet with 5GB of data.

Will be giving them a free email address through my domain name which is costing me $19.95 a year vs Telecoms $39.95 a month plus I get more features.

Just on a side note.. $2.55 a month for callerid? Bring on VOIP....
