Someone mentioned to me on Twitter the other day that Telecom are coming out with new Broadband plans in December.

Does anyone know if there is any truth to this or can share any details?

Pure speculation at this stage.

There have been rumours, but who knows.

If so I bet they will have NDA all over it so doubt anyone here would admit it

doozy: I personally think this is a great plan (of course I would), also includes options for changing the data side of the plan ...

40GB $105 (Auckland, Wgtn, Chch) / $115 (Rest of NZ)
60GB $125 (Auckland, Wgtn, Chch) / $135 (Rest of NZ)
80GB $145 (Auckland, Wgtn, Chch) / $155 (Rest of NZ)

it isn't publicly available yet but it will be very soon

I had a chat to a customer care representative a few days ago and rumour has it that it will arrive February 2011 - I think that coincides with more cabinetisation's that are happening and Telecom probably wanting to show off how good their service is.

As for me, when I was on big time the larges I ever got was around 130-140GB and that was a one off as I was downloading out of print vinyl rips hence not something I'd do every month. If 'Pro'  package became 80-100GB it would leave me pretty satisfied.

Maybe one day Telecom NZ will realise that people use their internet connection for more than just reading news and sending emails.

It's more that Telecom didn't refresh their plan offerings when the GST change came in, a lot of other ISP's did so imo they are overdue for offering some new plans/options.

Chances are high that if you were on Big Time and are a current Pro user and don't use your land line calling much you will get a call from a CSR and offered one of the "Total Home Broadband" plans early, before the full public release of the plans.

Happened to us and lots of people in that criteria that we know or have heard from on Geekzone and gpforums.

The prices quoted earlier in this thread are accurate:

Total Home Broadband 40GB $105 (Auckland, Wgtn, Chch) / $115 (Rest of NZ)
Total Home Broadband 60GB $125 (Auckland, Wgtn, Chch) / $135 (Rest of NZ)
Total Home Broadband 80GB $145 (Auckland, Wgtn, Chch) / $155 (Rest of NZ)

We got the call last week, chose the 80GB plan and are being switched to it next week.

Some other things:

Land line is included in the price however you lose some of the free calling features of Total Home Lite/Standard (like free min to nominated numbers etc). TBH I wasn't really paying attention to what calling features lost as we don't use our landline for anything other than the occasional local call.

You can choose capped or $2/GB overage

If you are an existing customer this change does not start a new contract term (ie: open plan if you are already out of contract period on your current plan).
