I lost my data connection (iPhone) around midday or so today, and haven't been able to restore it since, despite travelling from Greenlane to Massey to get home - just tested another person completely's XT phone, and no data there either.  What gives?

We have not had any XT data issues today in the Auckland region.  I'd suggest logging a fault if you are still having issues.

If you have recently done the upgrade to iOS4.2 you will likely find that the cellular data settings have been wiped out. I had the same problem along with two others I know. If you check the below you will likely find them blank after the upgrade.

Mobile Data – Telecom XT APN
Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Network

APN: internet.telecom.co.nz

Picture Messaging – Telecom XT iPhone MMS Settings
Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Network

APN: wap.telecom.co.nz
MMSC: http://lsmmsc.xtra.co.nz
MMS Proxy: 210.55.11.73:8080
MMS Max Message Size: 614400

Tethering – Telecom XT APN
Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Network

APN: internet.telecom.co.nz

Obviously I forgot to mention that the other phone is a Sony-Ericsson, which definitely hasn't been upgraded to iOS 4.2 for obvious reasons :)

Ah well, I guess it's a call to *123 then.

Well, the Telecom faults fellow got back to me (great customer service there- good work guys!) and apparently there is a nationwide data network outage on XT.

Not too pleased that it took 24 hours to get noticed though.

Interesting; I'm in Whakatane and haven't had any data issues in the last 24 hours.

I imagine it's isolated to a subset of customers then - no idea what the defining criteria are though.
