We got a call today around mid-day from a CSR at Telecom asking about our broadband problems, I thought this was a follow up call because we had a Chorus guy sent out due to disconnections, static on phone line and slow speeds. He somehow changed the topic to a new plan they had for, and I quote "high usage customers." We've been on the Total Home package with 40GB a month, and the guy said that if we moved to the "new plan" we'd save 8 whole new zealand dollars a month :O and we'd keep unlimited NZ wide calling, 40GB of broadband which was going to be full speed because he said we weren't already (I have no idea how but I didnt want to ask because he didnt seem like he was all there) and we'd also get unlimited free calling to Australian phones (landlines I assume). So we accepted and left it at that. Who else has this because he told me it wasnt available on the site either and was exclusive.

Yea I got a call from telecom today also, saying they have a new offer for certain customers (customers who are going over the cap i think).

I just logged into YourTelecom and under plan type it reads: Total Home Broadband 40GB overage Usage

I got a call from them yesterday asking if I needed anything.
He said I was already on the best deal I could get with total home with double data 80gig for a year with a $8.52 a month loyalty bonus credit a month and couldn't give me anything else.

I said to him joking you could double my double data but he didn't think that was very funny..

Has anyone actually gotten the upgrade yet? They said it would probably be set overnight... and still waiting

Yeh same here. My usage meter has changed to show usage from: "3rd December to 7th December" because we've been getting unlimited due to the TiVo glitch thing, and they sent us a letter saying it would stop on the 7th. :(

There's a whole 7 page thread about the new Total Home Broadband plans that they are piloting currently.

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=39&topicid=71887

To answer your question: they are ringing lots of people and offering this plan. Also the plans will supposedly be available in the new year to the general public.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess JohnR replied in the wrong window. :-)

Everyone is getting called 'cept for me :)

I always go over my cap (adventurer), and get slowed down to less than dial-up I'm sure.

Last week, telecom called, so I was in anticipation of what new deal the nice indian man was going to offer.

He checked my usage, noted that I always exceed 20gb.

Then, proceeded to recommend me for a 12 month contract on the 10gb Homeline plan, proudly announcing that I would save tons of money.

I pointed out to him, that the cap was only 10gb, and he went on to crow about the cost savings again. I told him I didn't care about the cost savings if the already inadequate cap was going to be reduced.

That was all he had to offer, so politely told him to naff off.

Was hoping I might get the phonecall, but nope.
We are currently on the 40gb plan with Total Home (Paying the extra $30) but have just switched to that from 20 which we went over every month we have it. Resigned to total home for another 2 years so thought we might of been offered it.

I got switched over on the 4th too (to the 80GB plan). I'll have almost halved my monthly bill on this plan, so... phew!

I think everything about the new plans has been covered here or in other thread on this site anyway.

I've been on Telecom Xtra for many years (6+ years) and usually don't go over the old 20GB cap, even if I do it would only be couple of hundred MB.

I got offered the new 40GB plan few days ago which I accepted.
Like other members here they said it would take effect overnight.
I just got round to check the usage meter just now and it says "Site Maintenance". Nice!

Finger crosses about my new cap taking effect soon.

----

Oh, I asked about wiring maintenance and they say it's not part of the Total Broadband plan. So I asked them to add that on extra. Can't remember if this is included in the old "Total Home" package. Worth a check maybe for some of you guys.

You're not alone...
We're also still on the 40gb plan and paying extra $20 for excess usage every month Cry
Kind of feels like the kid who always get picked last in sports lol.
Looking forward to the apparent new plans rolling out soon.

Wow ok. I called Telecom because the usage meter wasnt showing our usage, and he said "I can see on your account that on x date you switched to x plan, is that right?"
"yes"
"ok well that plan saved you $8 and you have un-metered broadband"
"what.... unmetered or unthrottled?"
"Unmetered, you wont have you usage managed"
"That cant be right"
"thats what it says here"
"well can you ask someone?"
"hold on Ill check with my supervisor, please hold"
"Ok..."
He then said he would call me back later as he was struggling to find his manager.

when he did call he said "the reason you have unlimited is because you have a TiVo"
"but they were meant to stop the unlimited for everything but the TiVo on the 7th?"
"They havnt done it, and you have unlimited until further notice"
"cheers :D"

Best you all go get a TiVo then since this unlimited is still on.
