Ok I know Telecom will let you keep your prepaid number if you transfer to an on-account plan, however will they do it when transfering from On Account to Prepaid?

Yep you can.  It works either way with telecom.

Correct, Telecom makes this very easy. Why Vodafone doesnt has been up for debate at various times in these forums.
