I think my local cell tower (Mount Bernett) is overloaded with all the summer tourists.
This is what I get at night

Nighttime

I will post my daytime result, but it bears little comparison to the above and drops out all the time.

That's actually a decent download speed - what makes you think it's overloaded, apart from the dropouts?

I reported it to Telecom faults yesterday in the evening and they said there was "degradation" and they would fix the problem. Today it is better but it is still early 8.30am. Can they do something so quickly?

What do the abbreviations stand for?
By 10am the connection was almost unusable, very hard to run a business that depends on the internet with that kind of degradation !!
Anyone got ideas on how to speed up Telecom upgrading the local system?

Sorry, but I must ask: why are you running a business and relying solely on a T-Stick? Is broadband not available?

No other options here.
We had been on Farmside Satellite more or less since its introduction, the move to XT was great, particularly the much lower latency of the cell network, we ran both for a month then turned off the Farmside.
You folks in the city dont know how fortunate you are!!
Before Farmside we ran a internet business on dial-up.
If Telecom can get the recent problems sorted we will be very chuffed with the service if notYell

Unfortunately there isn't a lot you can do, and Telecom place no performance guarantees on mobile.

What you're experiencing is a massive number of people in one place at a time, it's the same issue urban people face when everybody tries to use data at a concert or rugby game.

Despite mobile data being a great product there are performance limitations that go with it which can vary on many factors including cellsite backhaul if it's on E1's or microwave.

A little better today. Just a few drop outs and when it is working typically

at 2.40pm.
The farms affected by the Aorere flood are covered by the same cell tower so hopefully the problems are exceptional.

There's nothing wrong with those sorts of speeds for mobile data. You might be used to using an unloaded site but that's still pretty good.

Try looking at some average speeds in other countries around the world (including the USA) and you'll realise there are millions of people who would love to have networks deliver them over 1Mbps!

Yes I agree it was just the dropping out to nothing that has been the problem over the last few days.

If you're some distance from the site that'll just be cell breathing which occurs when the traffic levels on the site increase which increases the noise floor.
