Do I need to look out for a new phone or will I be okay with my old nokia for a while yet?

It closes in 2012 doesn't it? I still have a sanyo phone connected (that thin black one that was expensive when it came out). Works perfect but 3G has been turned off hasn't it?

EVDO has been turned off, CDMA not due to happen until mid-2012. Your CDMA phone will be okay for at least another 18 months or so.

Yes, visit a store, do it online or over the phone and approx 10 minutes in a store.

They just need the number off your new sim and they will attach your existing 027 number to it, and if you had any credit on the sim, they will transfer that from the sim's number to your existing number.

Takes approx 10 mins to do over the phone, and will be active in about 30 mins, but for data and txt to be avaliable it is usually 4 hours or overnight.

Normally all XT services should be re-provisioned within 30 mins, normally it's 1-2 mins but it depends on load.. So I can't see why SMS or Data would be any longer...

It shouldn't take any longer, once the SIM is working, all services should work too.

You would loose your Telecom online password for MBB Meter and other Mobile specific services (MMS Gallery etc) when your number gets reprovisioned.. But I am working on fixing that one so the password gets backed up beforehand.

I dont know but when i recently got my xt phone, it took about 10 mins for the calling to be transfered over, but i still could not access any data (APN) services on the phone till the next morning.

It has been like this on all previous CDMA phones too - calling transfered instantly, but wap usage took almost a day to start working.

Something doesn't sound right if that's happening.
