Hi All,
Having trouble finding a dual sim android phone that will support XT (3G WCDMA/UMTS 850 Mhz)
Some Chinese options can offer GSM but nothing for the XT frequencies.

Why? I have personal and work cell phones - both on XT and i dont want to give up either numbers.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Unless things have changed recently the only dual SIM phone on the market that supports 850MHz UMTS is the Acer DX900.

Don't buy it, it'll be your worst enemy... Wait a few more months for the next gen Dual sim phones...

Thanks .. could he a tough one

What about a dual sim adapter? I found this one that claims to work on 3G phones.
http://www.2-phones-in-1.com/content/hypercard-3g-digital-dualsim-3g-use-2-simcards-any-mobile-phone-online-simswitch-and-full-gs

I notice the Acer phone only supports one 3G sim card (the other sim is only GSM)

Cheers

You are aware that dual sim does not mean both sims are active at the same time.

You generally have to switch sims (thru the keypad) to activate the account you want to use....

If you want to monitor both accounts at the same time it's often better to have 2 handsets.

I have seen reports of dual SIM fones with both SIMs active..

"Dual SIM card, dual standby"  which implies to me that both are active..

There is no incentive for manufactures to make dual sim handsets when they mainly sell to telcos who do not want that feature. NZ is weird in its phone marketing where phones are bought by the end user at a high price, unlocked and without a term in most cases.

If the rest of the world is prepared to give up on free phones in exchange for a contract then dual sims might start to sell so make a market for them.
