I've Just signed up with Telecom about 2 weeks ago, and already I've run out of broadband data. I'm on the 'Adventure 20GB $61 Plan. While looking around telecom site i couldnt really find a way to 'buy more data blocks' but was always directed to changing my plan. Is changing the broadband plan the only way to get more data?? and plus since i've used up my 20GB plan and lets say i go on to the 'Explorer 10GB plan $51' will i end up paying for both???

If you look at the Plan types on the Telecom site you'll see that Adventure is a fixed price. You can't upgrade your data - once you go over your cap your speeds are throttled. This is explained in further detail on the page.

I'm unsure how Telecom bill plan changes mid cycle but there will no doubt be some sort of pro-rata charging involved. Your bst bet would be to actually contact them and ask.

Yes changing your plan is the only way to get more data as they are not 'blocks' but individual plans... Your data will reset and you will get the allocation of the plan.

Yeah there is... Whenever we have changed plans we are only charged the difference between the cost of the two plans.

I think the plan change is only affective at the end of period of the old plan when i read the webpage by memory.. Its not instant unles they have changed it since I looked.

the 40gb plan allws you to go over data cap and they charge $2 per 1gb over the 40gb

expensive in my books. I see various ISPs in oz are now offering 1TB of data for only $150 a month including phone package.

Indeed it does pro-rata the charges so you get a credit for the current plan and only pay a part of the new plan. Amounts depend on when in the month you change.

Keep in mind you are paying BEFORE you use it (month in advance), not after the fact.

So yes some changes can be made. But only 1 free plan change a month.

I don't know why telecom don't just offer 'fixed price' or 'excess data' options for all their broadband plans. The default should be 'fixed' and users could choose to be charged excess data if he/she wants.

Financially telecom could be earning more money if they did this.
