Hi all

My samsung 8300's screen has died just out of warranty and am looking to replace with a SE W995 but i'm told that it's only the w995a (note the additional a for America apparently) works with XT....

can anyone give me a definitive answer?

i found this info:

http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_w995-2682.php

which gave this info:

- W995 HSDPA/850/900/1800/1900/2100 MHz
- W995a HSDPA/850/900/1800/1900 MHz for America

This just confused me more - i expected the 'a' version to have the extra (required?) frequency, not the other way around!

Looking forward to any and all help thankyou everyone!

S

Sometimes GSM Arena lists all the bands all the variations of a handset support, not individual models. Every time I see a listing with all possible bands in it I know something is wrong.

just the w995a as the w995 would only get 2100 umts and that not a ideal , as telecom is a 100% 850 umts and only supports 2100 as infill coverage in major citys when needed

Having a look over at this review:

http://www.mobiletechreview.com/phones/Sony-Ericsson-W995a.htm

Phone: Quad band unlocked GSM world phone 850/900/1800/1900MHz with EDGE. 3G HSDPA on the 850/1800/1900MHz bands.

If you're going to get the SE W995 you'll need to get the SE W995a which includes support for UMTS 850 - the American versions tend to support the AT&T frequencies which make them compatible with XT Network.

Meaning it should work nationwide without any problems.
