I was just looking at the 2.3 and 2.5ghz spectrum winners list on the RSM website.
Saw Telecom Leasing Ltd as a winner of a couple of lots.

Does anyone know what exactly Telecom Leasing Ltd do, or if they are part of the telecom corporation of NZ?

Interesting.
I thought southern cross cables ltd still runs the southern cross cable.

Anyhow so if its not related to the cable, what do telecom leasing auctually do?

They probably changed the name to avoid confusion, the SOUTHERN CROSS CABLES LIMITED that operates the fibre optic cables is owned by Telecom, Singtel and Verizon and operated out of Bermuda (tax benefits I guess).

Telecom 100% owning a company that owns spectrum rights in NZ (Telecom Leasing) probably makes sense for operational separation and other reasons (separate legal entity, flexibility etc)

If you look up various companies on coys, you will see all sorts of different arrangements but basically it's common to have a holding company at the top and various business units or assets as different companies.

Callplus Holdings for an example:

Dang

I was hoping it was a spectrum holding company that hoards spectrum (in an evil corporate way) and can lease it to other businesses.
