Hello just wondering on the cost of installing an ADSL2+ / VDSL2 capable splitter + running new cable to the phone jack & a new one for a modem dsl port vs paying chorus or a technician to do it ?

Also is it recomended to change the RJ-11 or will the old one be fine & does anyone know where there are some guides how to install it yourself with NZ standards ?

Ive done a telecommunications cabling course, but they didnt teach wiring up RJ11s or installing splitters.

Cheers.

Plenty of DIY guides on my blog if you read through it.

Nobody could give an accurate cost without really knowing the state of wiring and access in your house. You might be able to find somebody willing to do it for und the Chorus price which is still $199.

There is no need for RJ11 jacks, everything should either be RJ45 or BT.
