Hi everyone,

I've had my Desire Z for a month or so now and loving it :) The only problem I'm having is that it won't send or receive MMS. I've scrolled the internet looking for solutions & pretty sure I have all my settings correct. I've called Telecom but they can't help much as I purchased the phone through Mobicity.co.nz, who I have also called with the same outcome. Luckily, I am able to view my MMS through mygallery but I would still like to be able to download them on my phone. I was just wondering if anyone has a solution to my problem? And simple terms please ;P I am a novice.

Oh and the other thing is, I live in a rural area, not the city so could the frequency be the issue?

Thanks very much!

Did you get the NextG Desire Z? If you get a signal, the frequency shouldn't be an issue. You did setup the MMS settings?

Hi, yes it's the NextG/XT compatible one and I think I've setup the MMS settings.... I have the MMS APN correct as far as I can see & also the settings in my messages are checked to retrieve MMS automatically.

You can try logging into mmsgallery.telecom.co.nz and see if you can send your own phone a MMS.

I would guess it's incorrect config, if you can't figure it out you can try going into a Telecom store and see if they can sort you.  I'm sure it's just something that you havn't set right on your phone.

Yes thanks, I have tried sending one to my phone but nothing will download. The message comes through saying I have an MMS but it won't download it. And sending them just gets a failure notice.

And yes, I've got those same APN settings as listed in that post. I've deleted mine and reset them many times and still doesn't make any difference.

Next stop, Telecom shop.

Thanks!

for desire Z (android in general) set apn types to (case sensitive!):

internet -> 'default'
mms -> 'mms'

Capitals will not work, anywhere, and names must be set.

Hi, yes I have that correct too. The only thing the guy from Mobicity could suggest was a hard reset but I'd rather explore all options before doing that, and I don't think that will necessarily work anyway.
