Yet another good quarter from Telecom, 70000 new connections..

Total APRU down by 10% to $45.90 per month.

You've really got to wonder how both networks are still getting big growth in a supposedly saturated market!

Only thing I can think of is the trend to own 2 mobiles (both 021 and 027) to get the most of the text messaging offers around at present (free weekends on 021 + $10 text on 027). I know a number of people including myself who have 2 mobiles to make the most of it. Really both both vodafone and telecom need a promo to make customers sit on just one network instead of two.

Still think it will be intersting when the dual network phones start appearing. Especially if they start using RUIM on CDMA.

Dual network phones wont help with this...

The CDMA side of it has to be approved, tested, and setup by TNZ - they wont do that for a phone that could be used on GSM too.

And if TNZ do ever release their 'WorldPhone' you can bet your bottom dollar the unit will be simlocked to its 02 roaming sims, and unable to operate using a Vodafone SIM.

(all speculative opinion of course)

Yeah, I know the problem. I 'think' RUIM's hold the network details aswell though. So in theory (speculative), if the RUIM has all the information, and if Telecom opens up the network similar to what Vodafones done (bringing in phones from overseas etc), then yeah.

Oh, well, maybe sometime before I die it'll happen.
