Hey, so i've had my phone since December last year - Xmas present from my dad.

every few weeks over a period ranging from a few hours to a few days, SOME of my messages dont come through and some do. Then when I take the battery out of my phone to reset it i get a flood of messages, one time i had about 40 messages come through.

I don't always notice though, because as I said some messages do come through. I've asked Telecom about this and they said about 2 weeks ago that i would get an update sent to my phone over the air in the next week that would fix this issue.

I have received no such update message and I am honestly sick of Telecom. I WILL change to 2degrees when my data runs out.

I'm also sick of the prices Telecom charge for data and text plans.
The text plan just HAS to be an awkward amount of money, $12 and no of course you cant get a $12 top up.
also, data. on 2 degrees for $20 i can get 1GB of data. on Telecom for $18 i get 240MB.

Telecom's data speeds aren't even faster than degrees any more, their about the same.

Basicly i want an explanation of what's going on, i feel i have been fed lies from the people at Telecom, specificity the palms branch.

If you are about to change, what's the point of this rant?

So far i've been fairly happy with my Smartphone Double 480mb + 5000 texts for $28. It was much better with bonus credit (topup and win is mostly useless to me).
I've still found telecoms data speeds and latency to be fairly good but i agree they have decreased.

What sort of phone do you have? It sounds like a phone issue rather than a network issue.

I also don't get the $12 topup issue. Muich like the Facebook group for Vodafone to introduce a $10 topup I fail to see any reason for the need when credit is valid for 12 months.

they said it was a phone issue, but i won a phone off the 2degrees text me race, so as soon as that arrives ill use that on 2 degrees.

because in my mind people need to know what i think of telecom.

isn't that partly why people come to these forums for, to find peoples opinions?

there is now a fix for the samsung galaxy 550 and i9000 texting issue
it has been proven a issue with the phone, and samsung have now got a fix (please read below)

New Software is now available for the Samsung Galaxy i9000T and the Samsung Galaxy 550 i5503T that addresses the multi-part sms issue.
If the customer has access to a computer with internet access they will be able to update the device themselves using the Kies software that comes with the device or by downloading this from the Samsung website. http://www.samsung.com/nz/consumer/mobile-phone/mobile-phone/smartphone/index.idx?pagetype=subtype_p2

Select the Device on screen, then select Support and the Kies download will be available in the download section.
There is an online tutorial for upgrading the devices here, http://nz.samsungmobile.com/support/softwaremanuals/kies.do

you will need to back up the device before upgrading

if unsure or uncertain how to follow these instructions, simply visit a telecom store and can be done for you
(devices under warrenty)

I don't think that will fix the issue this customer is having.  TBH, I would try a new SIM, failing that the device needs to go to Telegistics :(

It does fix the issue, the symtoms of texting have been detailed in the galaxy fault and his temporary fix of pulling the battery out resolved it, in the worse case customers were advised to put the sim into a different make and model phone to allow the texts jamming the flow to come through then go back to your galaxy
