Trying to access telecom broadband this morning, to no avail.

Dsl light on modem shows connected, but no Internet throughput.

Just been in touch with the Telecom broadband helpdesk who advise that there is currently a major broadband outage affecting the Auckland region, and fix time expected between 24-48 hours.

So for those of you who cannot connect, it's not your equipment but a major outage.

We purchase our broadband directly thru telecom via our Telecom total home package, hence this outage is affecting more than just wholesale customers..

I'm in the auckland region on telecom retail and mine is connected- not sure if it will reconnect if I disconnect (might not be able to authenticate or similar) but just a note that there will be people with access (confirming the "5000 affected customers")

Telecom Retail buy access from Telecom Wholesale and are no different to any other ISP who buys wholesale services.

I'm with Xnet and this outage is affecting me. Service has been down since at least 3 yesterday afternoon. I'm interested in the geographical location of users within Auckland.
Simply because a Chorus engineer was working on a new cabinet near me and I'm wondering if this is related.
I'm located in south Auckland, close to Manukau city.

May the farce be with you!

Looking at the slingshot link, it looks like the problem is affecting mostly central to south auckland (mayoral drive to papatoetoe)

Yeah thanks, I've just checked that out. Probably won't be anything to do with my cabinet then.

It seems to be affecting me in East Tamaki as well.

Had to resort to Vodafone mobile USB stick to make this post.

Was at my Parents house , outage this morning too.

Phoned telecom around 10am'ish, advised there was an outage

Phoned again at 2pm , advised still an outage, but it was minor and not many customers affected.

Can confirm that broadband for Botany and East Tamaki still down as at 11:45am.

What could possibly take this long to fix?

Surprised the media haven't caught on to make this public, they normally take every opportunity they can to bag Telecom.
