Hi any help very welcome,

Telecom cant help me they have sent me here, i have a Samsung at&t SGH-A797 flight world phone, everything works bar the internet.

Telecom originally sent em a message with the settings but these are not working, so when i rang back they sent me here saying someone would be able to tell me all the setting to put in manually to make internet available on my phone.

I hope i have included enough information here to get help but if not please ask me, i really want use on net on my phone.

Thanks

If you know your way around its menus, check the "APN" settings correspond to these: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=39&topicid=32983

Remove the Home URL: Http://pdaportal.telecom.co.nz and try again (I might be wrong)

Have you used this SIM card with another handset, and it worked for mobile data?

If not, then contact Telecom to check mobile data is correctly provisioned. Also remember if this is prepay you need a minimum balance to connect.

You could just take it to a store and ask for a bit of help with the configuration?

Very curious that Telecom would send you to Geekzone rather than spend the time to help you themselves. Pretty poor effort on their part really. Which is at odds with my recent experiences with them. Guess it's just who you deal with on the day eh!

If it's AT&T then it is possibly locked to their network.

ETA: looks like it's GSM only, not WCDMA, so suprised voice is working at all.

Try ringing telecom again and hopefully you will get someone a little more helpful or at least putting in an effort to help. They may get a similar samsung phone and navigate the menus with you together to create new internet profiles + activating them for your browser.

Oooops, sorry... Missed the AT&T bit.

AT&T handset are pretty locked up. They do a lot of this - you can use an unlocked phone for voice/SMS but then need a lot of time to configure everything else.

And that's why the Telecom person sent it here - because they themselves can't provide support to a parallel import - pretty much like Vodafone.
