I'm sick of the useless range of Alerts and Ringtones that telecom offer on their own website.

I'm just wondering if its possible to add your own ringtones like you can do with most Vodafone mobiles?

I've got a Sanyo 8200 and want to add the T-Mobile jingle (which i've finally found after spending countless hours searching for it!)
but it's in mp3 format...

like could I change it to the specific format for the sanyo (no idea what the format is) and then upload it to a server then direct my sanyo to the site and try and download it? (just tried it but it won't download the file and save it to the phone it just plays it)

are we locked into telecoms ringtones from their website? that seems rather unfair!

Google 'BitPim' or go to http://www.pccard.co.nz and check out Datapilot

Hi thanks for all that.

RE the sprintuser.com site - i followed those instructions.

made it into a qcp file etc, i uploaded it to my website and tried to download the qcp file via a "a href" link but the phone just shows garble "AKJ KJK(W*&(*&$(*&#(" etc!

how frustrating!

:)

obvoiusly that link for sprint focus won't work for people in nz will it?

so im just wondering how you get the phone to accept the file you've created as a ringtone download?

note: i don't have a usb cable so don't want to go that route... must be an easier way!

Sprint Focus works for those in NZ, just enter 0's in the phone number field, it will provide a URL, enter the URL into your WAP browser and the ringtone will download to your mobile.

Alternate upload sites for ya.

1) http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/
2) http://www.phoneuploader.stellernet.com/

Work just as well if not better... especially the 2nd one.

The article listed above is very handy. Works with video too with a bit of tinkering

I just did a bit of tinkering and made up a website for tones...

Would you guys mind checking it out and seeing if its compatible with your own respective mobiles?

I know it works for mine (Sanyo 8200) ...

direct your phone here:
rt.zedfone.com

cheers!

let me know how it goes...

The T-Mobile one worked for me :)

If you were looking for additions for the site, download and install the uploader on the http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/ site.

Did you realise you can download a fake file for 5c then overwrite it with anything you like in mp3 format?

Check the post below... MUCH cheaper for sanyos etc and can be mp3 format!
