I used to have 2 phone lines. I cancelled the second line so now I have one line. The wall socket for the second line is still in place, so what would happen if I plugged my landline phone into it? It won't bill me will it?

No you should just get the disconnected tone on a phone if you did.
Not 100% sure but you may still be able to make 111 calls from it.

can't remember how much it cost but it was done within 30 minutes. Is there anyway to convert the 2nd line back into the 1st line?

I Guess you mean to enable the socket on the still functioning line.
The answer is yes, juts join the cable together, but I would get someone to do it for you unless you know what you are doing.

Hmmmm
