Have just setup a new telecom prepaid microsim on an ipad. It automatically comes with $29.95 of credit on it. However there is conflicting information around on how long this credit will last for for it expires. Apparently credit lasts for 12 months, however I saw someone else saying that the initial credit you get expires after month. There is no information on the data usage page, as to how long it will last for or when it expires. Nor is there any information with the card.

Also how is the best way to check your prepaid balance on it, and then to top it up? They do have a website m.telecom.co.nz/microsim , but I assume this will cost you data to access it. Or is that data usage website page exempt of charges.

Thanks

The initial $29.95 credit does not expire after 30days.

You should setup 'Your Telecom' to track your data usage and credit balance etc.
Due to the iPad not been able to receive SMS, I believe you can call the Helpdesk on 0800 400 909 option 3, to set it up for you. Or set it up using the SIM in another device so you can receive your new password via SMS.

m.telecom.co.nz or yt.telecom.co.nz (direct link Your Telecom)

As for topping up, You could purchase a Top Up from any retailer or online from the Telecom website and then call 0800 32 32 32 from a Mobile or Landline and enter the mobile number of the iPad SIM and Top Up voucher code to have the voucher applied.

Or

You could Top Up from the 'Your Telecom' page. From there you can Top Up any Prepaid Mobile via Credit Card or by Voucher code. Great thing about this is you can also define your Top Up amount (min $10) i.e $12 if wanted to for what ever reason.

m.telecom.co.nz/cctopup (Credit Card TopUp direct link)

m.telecom.co.nz is mostly unmetered

If you PM me your Mobile Number and Sim card number and a password you desire I can set it for you too.

Hi. Were you able to sort out your registration issue? My Ipad2 just arrived, and I've just gone through hoops and hurdles, just to be back at square one. I phoned up technical support before I received my Ipad and they said that I should call back once I got my Ipad and they will generate a one time password for me, but now that I got my Ipad, they said I need to take it into a telecom store to get the password?

Did calling the 0800 400 909 number resolve your issue? I just called them, but not that anxious to be placed on hold while at work.

Thanks

If you PM me your Mobile Number and Sim Card number and what password you would like set I can set it for you (as I look after the backend authentication database used)

Thanks plambrechtsen! You did for me in 2mins what the helpdesk was unable to do in a combined time of 30mins.

Much appreciated!

Changes made today mean you can view usage and topup easily via this link http://m.telecom.co.nz/yourtelecom.

you must be connected via 3G data (not wifi) to be auto authenticated and usage on these pages is unmetered

That is really great, and it includes sessions and data downloaded. Well done to telecom.
