I think it's time to Telecom New Zealand to move into the Windows Mobile Smartphone arena, not only Pocket PC or Palm form factor devices.

The Motorola Q CDMA EV-DO seems to be poised to come out with Telus Mobility in Canada, after its launch with Verizone Wireless in the USA.

Will it ever come to New Zealand? OR we will have to wait for Sprint to carry it before it's tested here?

You seem to be infatuated with the Motorola Q Mauricio.

Theres plenty happening this year in the mobile space, some interesting roadmaps have been sighted.

But at the end of the day theres MANY factors as to why we do/don't get various handsets... MANY!

Well Telecom do have more Nokia's than Sprint which does make your comment seem a little silly.

And I've seen some of the roadmaps. It just happens that it meets my requirements: small, push synchronisation with Exchange Server, fast mobile broadband, keyboard (I don't like mobile phones with keypad only, I hate T9). And I played with it already, so I know it's got a cool factor.

There are other factors too, but this is a start. If not the Motorola Q on EV-DO I wll keep my Apache for now, and invest time in some of the other HTC designs coming later, shame they are most on GSM/UMTS networks.

No i think it was a valid comment. I said that its something that doesnt happen too often. Its great that Telecom got the Nokias, but everything else comes from Sprint and I know the reasons for it and its obviously the best thing for Telecom to do. It's just that we end up missing out on some great handsets.

Wrong..... Not everything comes from Sprint. Yet another silly comment.

Well again that is not true. You said 'everyting else' and that is factually incorrect. Given that I work for the company I would say that I know more than you.

Jama: Well again that is not true. You said 'everyting else' and that is factually incorrect.

I was just trying to make a point originally that if Sprint didnt carry it, then there is a very high probibility we wont get the Q. This going by comments made by certain Telecom staff to the effect of "if Sprint don't have it, then we won't get it."

You're just pulling my words out of context. But while we are at it why dont you go ahead and tell us what percentage of Telecoms phone don't come from sprint
Given that I work for the company I would say that I know more than you.

Im not going to argue that point, I know when im outmatched.

It would be totally inappropriate for me to discuss any of the commercial arrangements or agreements that Telecom has with other parties (such as Sprint) in any public forum.

Felix would hunt me down and have me publicly flogged or fired or worse. Look at what happended to Jaffa!

...And I didn't twist your words.

hey guys,

the Sprint to non Sprint thing is about 50/50 right now...

As for the roadmap, well I'd have to flog myself and pour hot oil on my eye lids if I talk about that....

And thats not something that would be pleasant lol.
Anyway all i was trying to say was that since such a large number of Telecom phones come from Sprint and they dont have the Q, we shouldnt hold out too much hope on seeing it here. But lets not argue.

Back on topic.... The Motorola Q....
I would love to see that come out here, Telecom are starting to head the right way with mobile broadband devices. Theres laptops with embedded EVDO which is huge.

The only complaint i would have is the size of the screen. Its the same size as my 6265 and Im not sure that would be big enough, although you would have to take it for a test drive before passing jugdement
