I've been on XT for two weeks with a prepaid data plan on my iPad. In that time the data usage page has been out of action and I've so far not yet been able to check my usage. For prepaid users this is the only option they provide for checking usage so it's a real pain. Any telecom insiders lurking that can tell us when it'll be fixed? Does anyone know of any other way to check usage that the telecom help desk may have overlooked? Are there any other XT prepaid iPad users out there in the same boat?

Cheers

Peter

I just tried http://www.telecom.co.nz/mbbmeter and it seems to work fine for me on 3 different numbers.

If you need me to set you a password since you have an iPad just PM me your mobile number and sim card number and the password you would like and I can set it.

Works fine for me too on 2 numbers....

Telecom are in desperate need to change their topup process; I have to topup 2 devices (iPad and DataChip) which both cannot receive or send text messages so the only way to top up is by phone/online using 2 separate processes.

First is to use my credit card to obtain a topup voucher, next is to dial 0800323232 with that voucher number to topup a phone number. RRRR

Why can't Telecom just let us use out credit card online to pay for credit for a number without using the voucher system?

I say get with the play Telecom! Its 2011.

I joined Telecom XT prepay for my ipad 2 on Thursday. I don't have anything else to put the microsim in so had the ring the Telecom helpdesk to get them to set my microsim up so I could use the online mobile broadband meter to check my balance.

They said at the time the meter was presently not working but that I should keep trying and I might get lucky and be able to log in.  Trouble is they said the temporary password I was given only lasts 24hrs and I've been trying since then and could never log in, so likely can't now anyway due to the password expiring. Rather annoying really.

PM me your phone number, Sim card number, and a preferred 6 char password, and I will set it for you.  Then the password is good for a year.

I am having exactly the same problem as you. Can't loginto the meter on the ipad, it just comes up with an error and says to ring *123 Really wish it was built into the sim.

Thanks for this plambrechtsen, I have sent you a PM with those details.  Would be extremely helpful if you could set this up

I have exactly the same problem! I have spent a very long time on the phone waiting to talk to Telecom faults (0800 400 909 option 3). I explained that it's no use sending a temporary password to an iPad because it can't receive text messages!

So, I was given a temporary password that expired in an hour. I logged in using this, but it didn't work. So, I spent another hour on the phone, and Telecom finally gave me another password that they said would last several days. I have tried this password each day for the last 5 days, and this doesn't work either!

So, I spent yet another hour on the problem and Telecom told me that they are still working on this prepaid system fault (ref no. 22211983) and that I would have to wait until this fault is fixed!

Cheers
Fred

p.s. Telecom has given me the balance in my account each time I have phoned, ouch at 10 cents per mb for the first 600mb of my 2GB plan, the balance goes down fast! I think I'll have to set up a router at home off my cable broadband!

You can top up directly with Credit card, although the process is far from reliable..

For my T-stick I browse to pdaportal.telecom.co.nz  and then to MyTelecom.  You need a login to MyTelecom, and once your in there is a topup link.   You can enter a voucher number or directly use credit card.  You can even use your credit card and directly top up a different device :)

I Agree the whole system needs a major overhaul, there are about 5 different ways of checking ballances / top up, and all work differently, sometimes not at all.

Even easier in fact, akia has just posted http://m.telecom.co.nz/yourtelecom in this thread which takes you straight to the page, without having to login :)

Thanks very much for this URL,
for the first time, I actually got to my account, could see my broadband usage,
and the password that Telecom gave me actually worked!

However, this same password did
not work using the URL that Telecom gave me, which is:

http://www.telecom.co.nz/mbbmeter

There is also another URL to
this same login page, and this didn’t work with Telecom’s password either:

http://cwa.telecom.co.nz/yte-usage-meter/view/broadband-usage

So, wouldn’t it be a good idea
to have just one URL on Telecom’s site that leads to the usage meter? Why would
one URL work and the other two not work when you first try and set up the usage
meter for a new prepaid SIM card?

Fred

"My DataUsage" app will keep track of 3G and WiFi usage on your iPad... via iTunes as usual. Seems to work OK on mine although this is the first month..

Just to keep track when Telecom usage meter is down  :)
