Hey guys,

We've launched today a new mobile broadband connection manager called Connect Me.

Connect Me makes it easier to manage your 3G & WiFi connections and gives you a one click access to your self service tools. We have a demo of the tool here: http://www.telecom.co.nz/connectmedemo/

It will work with most of the existing XT USB T-sticks on Windows 7, XP and Vista. A Mac OS version is coming later this year.

It's free to download from here: http://www.telecom.co.nz/connectme

The key features are:
 - One click access to Your Telecom, Top Up and the online usage meter
 - Seamless 3G/WiFi selection
 - SMS alert previews

Just a tip it's best to uninstall your existing connection manager from your PC or Laptop before you install Connect me.

Any queries or issues let me know.

Cheers,
Amber Craig

Edit: Adding a screenshot.

I will give it the ultimate in usability tests in a few weeks time, I will install on the mother-in-laws PC when I see her next, and see if she can drive it! (She uses a T-stick as her broadband connection as she lives in a rural location where no ADSL). She has always been baffled as to how to know how to drive the old connection manager.

Does look very logical and easy to use though!

Good work

Wow nice. Excellent work, however the telecom front line staff still doesn't know anything about it?

It's only launched today, I think the information out to staff came out around 5pm. From tomorrow onwards they should be all up on the play.

I just tried out this new software and all went well for about 5 mins, then my connection froze.  The "Connect Me" dashboard said that I was still connected, but no websites would load, no matter how many I tried.  Then I disconnected and reconnected, and tried various websites again, but still no go.  Tried a total of 3 times before giving up.

Maybe Telecom's network had an outage upstream somewhere.  Connect Me showed 3 bars at all times, even though nothing was happening.

We are going away for the weekend, and I hope this doesn't mean that our Mobile Broadband is going to be flaky, just when I was counting on it.  Hopefully I've still got a copy of the old software on the T-Stick so I can reinstall it if necessary...

Running on Windows 7 Professional 32-bit SP1.

Can you give 123 a call and give them some details, flick me through a fault number and I"ll make sure the product managers are aware of this.

Everything is going fine this morning, so not much point in phoning 123 I suspect.  I'll do that though if I have any further problems.

Thanks for following up.

Windows only I see. I tend to only use the T-Stick on the MacBook when I'm out and about (no point using a T-Stick with a Windows desktop tethered to a DSL router with an always on connection, I reckon). Any idea if/roughly when that will be available?

It is coming and 'later in the year' is the only timeframe I have at this stage. Once we know more and have a more drilled down time I'll let you know.
