I have a Turbo 3G21WZ to deploy at a remote (Telecom) site to receive, via the internet, an audio stream, which is decoded by a Barix Exstreamer100, for rebroadcast on an FM transmitter.

The hardware and connnection is great and is doing just what I heed it to do, except ...  I am unable to manage the router or access the Barix web management page via the internet.
I have configured access and port forwarding as specified but to no avail.

I understand from info on the forums here, the problem will  most likely be the APN setting, default being internet.telecom.co.nz, where ports are blocked, and by changing to direct.telecom.co.nz I will be able to forward ports.

The question is how do I do this?  On the HSPA/3G SETTINGS page there is a profile "Telecom Default", but even though it has a dropdown arrow, it is not possible to access the profile.

Here are the router details:
Model   3G21WZ
BOARD ID 96369G-133C
#10A3502XXXF-AG010367
FW:  3G21WZ-J301-402NCN-T01_R03
Bootloader: 1.0.37-102.6-23

3G info
network Telecom NZ
mode HSDPA/HSUPA
WAN IP 115.189.81.x

I post the question because I see other people trying smart things with these routers - search of other forums show users with similar difficulties in other parts of the world.

Look forward to any advice ..

George

Duh1..... Thanks 1yippy1. I was so excited with the Turbo I didn't want to disconnect.
Reset the APN and I can access both the router management and the hardware audio decoder remotely.
The decoder also has an snmp service which allows me to monitor its perfomance too.

Now I only have to overcome the poor upstream performance where the stream encoder is located.

Cheers

Ok. Same project .. next obstacle .. Will try here before trying a new thread.

The router lost internet connectivity after 20 hours and required a reboot.

Is there a connection time out on the direct.telecom.co.nz?
Will the router be disconnected on a regular basis?
It will be placed in a remote location with no one around to push the button!!

Yes you will get disconnected on a regular basis voice takes priority over data connections , had many a chat with telecom over my disconnects.

Do you find you periodicaly need to reboot the router?

and if so how often?

Just trying to assess whether I need to implement a remote hardware reboot system. I have found a device which could do this from a phone call..

No .

Check router logs if you have this ( user err kernel: hub 1-0:1.0: port 2 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling...)
Means you have been bumped off for voice calls :(
