First of all I have to say that I hate ranting but I'm so annoyed with Telecom that I have to let it out.

We have had our home line with Telecom nigh on a decade now and have our toll calls through Slingshot.

About two weeks ago our line starting acting up, we could ring out but couldn't receive calls. A tech came round and sourced the problem to our home alarm system interfering with the line, he fixed it and left.

That night we discovered that the line sounded really shocking, static and oddball beeping, we were also unable to make toll calls. We got in touch with Telecom and they said we had a toll bar in place and that it had been there since 2001!

Now here's what really got me going, Telecom are refusing to investigate why the toll bar is now there and are refusing to remove it since we don't have our tolls through them.

Slingshot are looking into it for us but they can't do much unless Telecom remove the toll bar, which of course they aren't willing to do.

So, I am now having to pay Telecom for use of the line even though they're acting like spoiled children and also having to pay Slingshot for toll calls I can't make.

Awesome job telecom, time to switch it all over to Vodafone.

Why not shift all your business to Telecom, betcha it would have been sorted right there and then, even if the issue happened at all. If you split your services like this it is just asking for trouble IMO.

It was a matter of cost at the time. Slingshot came to us with dirt cheap national and mobile calling and telecom wouldn't match it.

Trust me, after this we will be getting all services from one provider, just got to figure out which one.

switch to naked dsl. then get voip setup with slingshot italk for $10 per month. that includes 500 minutes of calls to nz and many other countries around the world. yes just $10. i switched and have never looked back.

a tollbar doesnt usually cause bad sound, static and oddball beeping ... perhaps you need to get the tech back again.... and while we're on that subject, whose tech came out and did they charge you for the visit? and was the alarm only installed 2 weeks ago, or did it suddenly start causing problems 2 weeks ago?

Sorry, neglected to mention that the tech came back and found that something had blown in exchange down the road, so that issue was sorted at no cost.

Goodness me. Why does Telecom allow their loyal long term customers to slip away so easily, when all that was probably required was intelligent conversation and an easy solution. Very glad I'm not a telecom shareholder!

Why don't you just move your phone line to Slingshot! Problem solved.
Telecom obviously don't want it anymore. 




Now on 2talk Network and it's better.
