Hi there

Im actually requesting help on behalf of a friend who perhaps is even more technologically challenged than me!

She has an Xtra email account and wishes to delete a contact from it but appears to be having no success.

The 'contact' actually isn't in her address book, the 'contact' emailed my friend and she replied and so now everytime my friend types the first letter of the 'contact's name (in this case F) the contacts email address appears.....

How can she delete any trace of this person?

Your help would be appreciated!

Usually you can just delete them by starting to type in the contacts name (in your case pressing F) and when the contact and email address appears in the list below make sure it is highlighted, by using the up or down arrow keys on the keyboard. You will only need to do this more than one contact appears on the list.
Once you have the correct one highlighted press the Delete key on the keyboard.

The only time I've had an issue over the phone is when the other person assumes 'Delete' key means the normal backspace key but you have to actually use the key labeled 'Delete' or 'DEL' on the keyboard.

it transpires that she's using Yahoo Xtra not Outlook and so this doesn't appear to work.....

thoughts anyone?

Ah then it may have something more to do with the autocomplete settings of their web browser.
Do you know which browser they are using?

using Yahoo in Google Chrome........

:-) you got the magic fix there matey? :-)

Edit: apparently turning off autocomplete makes no difference....... :-(

Hi there,

I have just tried this myself and the only way a name is suggested is if the email address is in the contact list.

If you type an email address in to the To (or reply to a non-contact) and send, the 'new' email address is automatically added into the contacts list.

I would suggest your friend has another check of the contact list and check for the rouge email address.

Note the Outlook behaviour of pressing delete [Del] does not work with my web browser [IE].
