petermcg: Part of the problem is the missus changed us from telecom a while back and we are now with kinect, they havent had much to do with faxs.
petermcg: Yes DA4 thats what we got ringing now on our fax number, it worked with the brother fax, but to me it dosent describe its self as a single ring to me.
petermcg: I think a single ring pattern is more like DA2 400ms on and 2600ms off and so on. I think this is the distinctive ring that we are looking for...
petermcg: and will maybe work with the HP, I think they just got there ring patterns mixed up.
Not looking forward to that phone call again.
petermcg: Im am quite interested in the fax to email service,, so who is best to contact for this.
petermcg: Do we still use the distinctive ringing, and does the machine still ring when one comes through...
petermcg: Also if I can still send fax from our 3 in 1,, and do i need a new number etc.
Hunter: I bought some 30 of these machines some time ago before I realised that they do not do faxibility
But after some asking around, manage to find a way to get them to work
Apparently they are not made to handle faxibility in NZ, something to do with ring timing
If you have no luck on Monday, send me a pm and will try to see if I still have the procedure.
From memory, you need to press 3 buttons while turning the machine on to get into the system menu then change 2 values in there

The providers have all changed since I used this service, but after a quick look on Google, this company in Australia seems to provide the best deal for low-volume usage @ AUS$8 per month + 15c per page received:
Here is a NZ company who charge $25 + GST per month for up to 200 pages:
Obviously, it will depend on your usage as to which of those is best for you.petermcg: Do we still use the distinctive ringing, and does the machine still ring when one comes through...
You can kiss goodbye to Telecom's Faxability service and all the hassles with distinctive ringing. Incoming faxes will just appear in your inbox, along with other email.petermcg: Also if I can still send fax from our 3 in 1,, and do i need a new number etc.
You can still send faxes as before. Just remember to reprogram your fax's CSID to reflect the number provided by Ozefax or Ifax. Recipients of your faxes will then reply to the correct number.
