What has been the feedback from upgrading your Apache to the AKU2.2 upgrade.

So far i have done 4 devices,

1 x unit kept loosing email accounts after upgrade so we serviced and reverted back to original firmware - works fine now.
2 x upgraded and the crashing, locking up bugs have gone or are less prevalent, coverage seems better and EVDO signal seems to be obtained further from the site? Also recieves calls more often than did before!

My unit has been upgraded, it seems a little sluggish (all units i have done seem this way) but the phone works better, my mp3 ring tones don't always take half the ring time to start ringing, the EVDO coverage or ability to recieve EVDO seems to be much better.

What results have others had?

I have several clients with mutliple Apaches, all crashing and locking up and not perfoming  or recieving calls on the old version, has any one else had this problems?

I have also been getting the comments from this client that the Imate versions or similar devices are stable and reliable yet the Apache seems to be unstable?

Your thoughts?

Interesting... not what I have seen. I was on it right through the Beta testing and found it to be very reliable. I have upgraded over 30 units now with no problems at all.

Feedback I have had indicates that it is more reliable than the previous version.

Well i am fairly happy with mine and as mentioned the EVDO capablity has increased some how. It is slightly slugish but not too bad, the positives out way the negatives so far by a long shot!!!

I am rolling out some more firmware upgrades as well. I think they will turn out positive as well.

I have changed the vocoder settings to SVC on my unit from the standard an i have noticed an improvment in voice quality as well and voice performance, i had done this before the upgrade though.

We've got 3 here and all have problems with connecting with WModem using both USB cable and Bluetooth - the phones just hang requiring a soft reset. So that has been the biggest drawback as that was initally one of the key reasons we got the phones.

Also, on all 3 again, the screen often gets all out of whack when going between landscape and portrait mode (keyboard in and out).

Did you already have the Harrier driver installed on the laptop? There is an updated Apache driver on the Apache CD. It works fine on my laptop.

Yes that is an odd one. I have an HP nx5000 and it works fine. Unfortunately I don't have a reason why it behaves this way or a resolution for the issue.

My Apache behaves better now than before, and in terms of performance it seems faster. I use it over Bluetooth most of the times, but a couple of times I tried using the USB cable it worked ok - and another time it failed, but a soft reset did the trick.

I am still using the old drivers, couldn't be bothered getting the box back here, but it works.

the HTC Apache I have requires a soft reset quite often (as do the others i've seen) and I have discovered probably 20 different ways to make WM5 crash that I now avoid. I'm scared something will break if I upgrade it to AKU2.2 and I am highly disappointed by WM5 and it's myriad of bugs.

I use Familiar Linux for notes, appointments and schedules and that hasn't crashed once. Although I wouldn't reccomend it for most people because there are a few features lacking still. But hackers don't sleep so I have my fingers crossed, hoping there will be a featureful alternate OS for the Apache soon.
