hey all...does anyone know how to create folders on the mini sd card that the fone will recognise and be as functional as the pre-loaded folders?
i have connected to the pc via supplied data cable..created folders on the sd card..loaded some gif files, yet when i disconnect and try to access the folder it doesnt show up on the fone.
also is the sanyo fones capable of playing animated gif files?

cheers

I think if you go Tools/Extras/MiniSD the phone should give you the option to create all the folders?? Otherwise the default folders are:

MEDIA

VOICE

DCIM / 100SANYO

Have fun!

yes it does give me this option, however thats all it will allow..it wont allow me to create personal folders outside of the default folders there. it seems rather poor to have the 1 GB mini card yet not have the facility to organise or create new folders

You can create folders within the folders (ie within Media), but thats all. Just question, why do you want to create them outside the default folders?

have tried creating folders within the media folder. however this again is recognised by the fone but will not show the files (gif files)
the reason i want to create my own personal folder is simply to save family pics in one folder, work in another, misc, and scenic or travel pics. not to mention wallpapers etc. as it is now they are all lumped in  one folder or SD card. so hence to find 1 particular pic out of say 50..i have to go through the lot to find it instead of having an oragnised by theme option with the folders

Store images under "DCIM / 100SANYO" but as far as I know you cant store them under a sub folder, but i haven’t investigated this.

yes have done that...yet again..created a set of folders copied pics to each in relation to folder..yet fone again will not recognise any otther folder except the default..so again..sanyo has locked down your choice to create your own personal folders as software will not allow fone to read anything but default folders

you can create all the folders you want but fone will only read default folders
any way around this?

not looking to change default folders..looking to add and organise folders to sd card so that fone can recognise them. it seems the sanyo software is limited and will read only the folders that are factory loaded to the fone. so effectively i have 1 gb sd card called 1 big folder..pretty sucky that i cant create and use personal folders.i have put the sd card onto my pda ..created and used folders etc with any problem..put it back into fone...nada..the folders disappear..(fone wont read)..

Here's the goss.... i've figured it out.

You need to use the USB cable to plug the phone into your PC, then create folders using your PC (as opposed to the menus on the phone). You can interact with your SD Card as if it were a hard drive on your PC.

BUT - there is a set format of folder naming which the sanyo phone will recognise. You need to use the following:

(inside the DCIM folder...)
100SANYO
101SANYO
102SANYO
etc

So, you CAN create new sub folders within the DCIM folder which will show up in your phone's menus once you disconnect from your PC, BUT they have to be in this format.

Hope this helps :)
