Hi Guys,

I've noticed over the last few weeks that its now taking bloody forever to connect up to my DSL connection. It used to take a few seconds, now it can take over 20 minutes!!!

Despite resetting the modem and troubleshooting (win7 64 bit) it the thing just keeps on taking forever. Today it took an hour. Once its up, its all good, fast download speeds (in metro chch) - its reporting 17.030 kbps download currently so fairly happy..

Nothing has changed in the topography of the house, all the filters are still in place and the phone's working fine (also telecom).

So, is this a problem with the modem (i.e. biff it) or something I should be waiting forever on Telecomn's broadband help line to ask a help-droid about?

cheers Dave

It could be worthwhile just trying the modem on a dedicated power socket. It may be that the modem isn't getting enough clean power to connect.

If you are getting ~16mbps connect rate, it doesn't look likely to be filter/cabling related.

Our helpdesk are trained. If you give them a call and get a fault number they can get testing down on your line. They can also assist with getting a replacement modem if it turns out that is the problem.
