My mum was having problems with her Galaxy S so I took it home with me and installed a stock ROM through ODIN3. I decided to put my SIM in it and use it for a week to make sure the problems were fixed, which they were and it worked fine.
Before I put my mum's SIM back in I decided to do a factory reset to get rid of my apps and contacts, so I did said reset and gave it back. Well, I get a call later saying that the phone gets no service.
So I get the phone back and see that yes, no service. All APNs correct etc, just not finding the XT network. IMEI is fine and original. I try my SIM in it and it still gets no signal. Conversely my mum's SIM works in my Captivate. I have also reflashed a 2.2 XT ROM but still no signal. Yes, 850MHz is enabled.
I have been all over the Internet looking for solutions and it looks like people of several different phones can get this problem. The only solution I have seen so far is to get a new phone.
I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a test or something I could run to check the UMTS reception or something. Dialling into service mode and checking neighbouring towers tells me there is 12 GSM ones and a bunch of info about them, but just says 25 UMTS towers, nothing else.
Any help appreciated.
PS: I meant to post to Android forum, sorry.
