Hi,
I my internet speed is 1.5 MB/s and my settings are DSL/Cable 2M.
I used to be able to download from Steam with 1.5MB+ speeds and now they are only about 300KB/s i've tried all the NZ content servers and some of the Australian ones and even South Korea. I think thats all the info that you would need if you need more just say it.

The download server setting in Steam is just a guide to help Steam use local servers. Steam will usually connect to multiple servers to get content.

What game are you downloading?

If it's it a more obscure game it may not be on the local mirrors hence be coming from overseas thus the slower speed.

I'm downloading Left 4 Dead 2 but with any other game like APB Reloaded or if im updating TF2 its still the same ): im also using Telecom if anyone is wondering.

Grab this utility and have a look at what servers steam is connecting too when downloading
