Hey folks,

Anyone having any issues accessing XT on 850MHz in Kapiti?

My bro-in-law is having problems roaming with his GSM iPhone.

TIA.

You say GSM iPhone, is that the First Gen iPhone? That doesn't have 3G?

The XT network only uses 850MHZ/2100MHZ 3G bands so it has to be 850MHZ 3G not GSM.

Hope that helps. Also, has he set up roaming with his provider? They could be blocking it for whatever reason.

Yeah, sorry forgot to qualify a bit more.

He has the original GSM iPhone 4.

His partner has an iPhone 4S, which seems to be working okay, however, I'm assuming (maybe incorrectly) that 2100MHz is actually available in Kapiti.

They're both roaming on XT via British Telecom. His iPhone has been working, just recently get's no service.

Cheers.

Has he restarted it? Then taken the sim card out and carefully cleaned the contacts? If his wife is available, put her sim in His phone, and vice versa. That should tell is if its a phone or SIM issue.

And since he has the iPhone 4, it should work perfect on Telecom.

I'll try that out. Just wondering if it was a widespread (i.e. network) problem or just isolated to his phone.

Thanks for the help.
