I am trying to get my Pocket PC to connected to my desktop pc via the internet.

This cool software does this easy
http://www.z2software.com/Remote2PC.htm

My setup is this
Wall jack to
Nokia M1122 modem ( black beast Orgininal from Telecom ) to
3COM gigabyte switch to
Desktop PC 1 and Desktop PC 2, and laptop

For me to access a destop PC from a Pocket PC ( jas jar Wm5 ) I need to create a Dynamic IP address at www.no-ip.com
as apparently my IP address to the Desktop PC changes every so oftern. Did this no problems.

However Remote2PC software must use UPnP port forwarding.  And as far as I can work out the Nokia M1122 does not support this. I have been to the http://M1122 html management software of the modem and dont see any reference to UPnP there.

The Remote2PC obviously doesnt detect UPnP functionality with M1122 as the command buttons are not enabled.

So can you pass any light on the Nokia M1122 and UPnP, do I need a better modem with UPnP or am I missing something...I know the Jas Jar works with UPnP as forums emails have confirmed this. Thx Please advise.

I think you need a pinhole configured on your modem. Why go through all this? Just use www.logmein.com, it is free and don't need changes or IP address configuration?

Dude ...whats a pinhole, is it PPC to DeskPC ???

How does it work ??

I will check it out, but can you shed light on my question of making my modem (?) UPnP ??

UPDATE...after testing
www.logmein.com this option only works for PPC of Win 2003 and earlier, not WM5..

The logmein.com works with Windows Mobile 5.0, I use it. In general if a software works on Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition it should work fine on Windows Mobile 5.0.

As for the pinhole, it's also known as a port forward rule. I am not familiar with the M1122, but if you go to its configuration menus and find a port forward page then configure a port to be sent to your PC using its internal network address.

As for making it UPnP compliant, if there isn't an update for the M1122 firmware, then there's nothing else that can be done.

M1122 is not UPnP compliant and no firmware update. Change your modem, I did too.
