Our daughter has gone over to the UK for her OE so we're wondering does Telecom have a special rate for calling her mobile overseas from our landline? Or alternatively mobile to mobile?  Or something. Looked on the site but the plan I saw only seems to say its $30 a month to a landline and only mobiles in USA and Canada.

Is it a Telecom mobile that she took with her or a mobile she purchased while in the UK?

She took a telecom mobile with her but has since brought another that had a cheap rate for her to call. Who its with I've no idea.

try "Viber" from both Apple apps store and Android Market place.  Almost free as it uses 3G data or WiFi services.  You can use it for messages too!  Only catch, you both need smartphones  (either Iphone or Android doesn't matter and can be mixed)  I just used it last week to coomunicate with my son  who was in Aussie.  Only downside is the crap data speeds &  wiFi speeds in (this example) parts of Brisbane and Goldcoast.  Worth trying though.  Mine's a stayer for sure.

Take a look at telecom.co.nz/0161 or telecom.co.nz/yabba
