I guess what I am asking is who do I talk to at that massive organisation to resign and get myself a good deal?
I have been a happy Xtra customer for a wee while (after VF said it would take too long and too much money to move house). I am out of contract and see some pretty good deals out there (TCs $75 per month and VFs free MySky).

Do Telecom offer any such deals? If so, who do I talk to - the 123 people just answer generic questions?

Just trawling, but would appreciate some advice.

Thanks.

123 guys don't just answer generic questions. They're actually pretty helpful. Between them or the guys in store they'll have all the details of the latest deals and what we can do for you.

Also there is the offers page on the our website that goes over all the deals: http://telecom.co.nz/whatsnew?f=offers

But saying that may be worth others commenting on what ways they found the best deals? Sometimes just others recommendations on how they found their deals is best :)

Thanks Akia, that's what I was hoping for - other's experiences.
Honestly I had not thought about going into a store, but since I am not a 'new' customer I did not think they would have much to offer (whereas if I jumped back to VF or over to TelstraClear I would be a new customer and get the New Customer Deals).

I too am going through this exercise at present.

Having been an Xtra customer for 7 years (with no real problems to speak of) I am now at the "I wonder what else is available" stage.

I have emailed direct to Telecom and was provided with a fairly quick response.

For me, the question is:

Do I stay with a service that I am happy with, whilst paying more than other service providers are offering, or do I jump ship to save some dollars without knowing what the service is going to be like.

Same.

Or if they are offering a freebie to new customers (like TC's 2 months free), I'd be keen. I always miss out on those sort of things and this time, I'm thinking I'd quite like a little bonus ;)

Yep. Can get 30gigs for around $75 dollars others including phone, telecom $90 for 10 gigs. And $2 overage.
I'm paying $105 for 60 gigs. Don't need 60 gigs, but 10 gigs not enough.

Not happy with telecoms prices, but happy with speed levels. Plus such a hassle changing providers, so much can go wrong.
Wished it was as easy as changing power companys, no inconveince happens when doing that.

The link above may help *grin* ... there is much confusion with finding the best price plan with Internet Service Providers and the Providers themselves prefer to do business with a confused public. Customer Services is mainly for the benefit of the Company and not the customers.
There are thousands of Internet combinations ... your Internet & Sky ... or a free phone call, or un-metered viewing, or Tivio or Popcorn and a free dialing area.
I say forget the "plans" ... if one of these companies will not give you an individual plan that suits your needs, then shop around until someone will tailor make a plan for you.
ta ta for now.

IMO people tend to forget this part all for the sake of a few dollars here, or a couple of gigs there.  All the drama's around changing providers and the unknown resulting service is to my mind often not worth it if you are "happy" with the current provider, and you are able to get the features and functions you desire for a reasonable price.

Great to shop around, but it would have to be a seriously improved deal to prompt me to change from a provider that has given me years of solid satisfactory performance.

Just my 2-cents worth...Good luck

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

I ask myself that question regularly too. The known reliability of the service we get from Telecom keeps us here. It also helps that they threw a free Tivo at us, if we signed for another year. The OP could always ask if there's any deals like that around still.

There was a Free Tivo deal going on quite recently but it only applies to non-employees so I didn't check it out.  If that would help seal the deal then PM me with your customer details and I can see if I can track down the person internally who was offering that deal.

I would be pretty happy if I was also offered a free TiVo AND the new wireless modem if I signed for another year. :D

Changed to TelstraClear, Telecom offered a $10/month discount, but a saving of around $450 over 12 months was too enticing. Change went relatively smoothly.

Just rang Telecom on 123 and asked if they had any offers for us existing customers who are out of contract, but they didn't. Guess they don't want to keep us?

That's what I got too, but I know Telecom do want to keep us, just the front-line peeps don't have the authority to give stuff away (which is fair enough).
