Are you doing this over WiFi?

1st switch to 3G, then go to http://m.telecom.co.nz/yourtelecom

Save it as a link and add it to your home screen. Then you'll be able to go back on WiFi, login and then choose change password which will be valid for 365 days.

Firstly you should always go to m.telecom.co.nz/yourtelecom either via WiFi or over 3G. This will always redirect to the site (even if we happen to change the URL's behind the scenes).

Second, if you go the the above URL via 3G you will automatically be logged in. No need to log in. Going to this site is free for XT customers (just in case you're worried about using your data).

Hmm.  What about sphone.telecom.co.nz - that's the one I've always used and it logs me straight into Your Telecom as well (unless I'm on wifi of course).

Correct. But as Akia mentioned, m.telecom.co.nz/yourtelecom  is "the" link. Other links will point to m.telecom.co.nz/yourtelecom, but if they get broken or alter as changes are made they may drop off, so best to "get the original' so to speak

. Ok then so I have had this phone for a week or so now. Why am I charged 3G data whenever I access that link. I have mobile data turned off the rest of the time and have nothing open in safari when I first click on it. I go to check my usage and see data usage for the last time I checked it + my Account minus a few $. This is the only time which I have mobile data switched on.???

Are you sure you don't have any background services such as mail push / polling that may be also generating mobile data in the background.

iPhones also have a nasty habit of syncing data even if you turn off 3G data.

I would try ringing up 123 and querying the usage with them.  If you have any problems with the helpdesk which I doubt somehow you can PM me or akia and we can look into it.

Erm, m.telecom.co.nz/yourtelecom isn't the original.  It redirects to sphone.telecom.co.nz.

m.telecom.co.nz/yourtelecom is the correct one to use. If sphone goes away or moves, m.telecom will redirect to the new location.

i rang telecom and they can't tell me what is using the data

i also did i test , i turned mobile data on for like 4 minutes and clicked on nothing then turned it off

sure enough when i look at my activity later i have been charged a few kb. Currently it cost me $1 or so everytime i turn on mobile data. $1 isn't much but it is annoying not knowing what is using it.

it's an iphone 3gs

If mobile data is off and nothing happens, and when you turn mobile data on then there's traffic, it's obviously something on your handset. You will have to hunt it down. Telecom (and any other operator) can't see what's generating traffic on a user-owned device.

I'll see if there is anything that can be done.

If you could PM me your details (phone, when it happened etc) and I will see if I can look into it.  However no promises I can get to the bottom either.

All YourTelecom URLs should be zero rated.
