We have a TradePub account with hundreds of free magazines, books, white papers available to our users. We also have a problem that our users have the habit of not looking at menus. I know this because before a lot of people couldn't find the SEARCH link in the menu bar at the top, forcing us to place a search box in every page, making the whole experience slower because the Google search box is a script (and no we are not allowed to change the code).

Because we have this vast resource that is FREE and no one uses I am testing to see if there's any difference with a box that slides out. I thought being no different from the kind of boxes that people see in other sites there would be an interesting test.

freitasm: That is "slideout" (not a popup or popunder because those will not be hosted here). When you scroll the page down almost to the bottom it will appear docked on the bottom right, when you scroll the page up it disappears.

ajobbins: I recommend getting a subscription. Really cheap and then you get no ads at all. It means you have more screen space for real geekzoning, not to mention the page loads are so much faster

freitasm: What about a bar at the bottom of the page instead, under the copyright notice?
