If you are one of the 1009 Geekzone users who have logged into the site lots of time and posted in a few discussions then you just got yourself a Geekzone Subscription, free for the next 30 days (until 31 Oct 2009).

To find out if you are a subscriber you have to login again and visit your profile page and you will see the status information there:

What benefits you get? The first and most interesting one is the ability to browse Geekzone with no ads. And you can also hide the sidebar in the forum pages. To change these options visit your personal options page and check the boxes as required.

Enjoy Geekzone full speed...

Hmm... you can refer to the peons as Knights for a month, but they are still peons...

Great stuff... faster browsing = more Geekzone in any given timeframe.

Aha! I was wondering where the sidebar had gone. And it's so fast now! Thanks for the "demo" :)

Is this why we had 503 errors at 12pm, too many people wanting to enjoy their 'free' subscriptions all at once? :D

Holy crap its going fast without ad's. Can open a new tab and see its done loading in half a second or less. Even adblock didnt make it that quick and I kinda felt bad about blocking ad's on a site like this.

Thanks nice.... what does a subscription actually cost?

Found myself: "The above features are all available to subscribers now, and you will also automatically get any new ones that we add in the future. You can subscribe on monthly (US$5) or yearly cycles (US$50) via Paypal. The subscription will automatically renew at the end of the period. "

Cheers, Stevo

Apart from this obvious drawback (blocking ads that obviously keep our site running by paying our costs), ad blocks are in my opinion are resource hog you don't need.
