The subject has it all... It seems the gravatars disappeared for some reason from the geekzone blogs and forums...

Maybe I clicked on a setting somewhere  accidently that lets them hide or something?

Problems with their servers, the images are still coming to the page, but as empty.

When their connection to the database is restored I presume all comes back to normal.

Perhaps our friendly local webmaster (dont worry, you are more than just a webmaster to us ) will be motivated to code an avatar system to run natively in the Geekzone world.

Check out the Gravatar site, its littered with sql error messages. My blog has a screenshot if its fixed by the time you look, and are still interested.

I thought of that and I have the code for uploading images, limiting size, etc, around here. Just need some time. The mashup is an interesting concept, and I tried to explore it, but it's hard when using a third party service to be consistent.

Mashup examples? A lot of people use Google Maps, Flickr, Frappr, etc. Reusing these is a way of getting things done, quickly. But reliance on third party is a pain.

I will have a look at coding this, but not until May.

Gravatars are back up and running as you can plainly see. No explanation on the website though.

If you havent got a gravatar yet - head off to http://www.gravatar.com and upload yours today. Make sure you use the email address you registered on GZ with.

Your avatar should be square or it will be distorted. They reduce them down to 80px80p.

I gave up on it as you can probably see.. Gravatar is useless, They rehash (darken) the image for you even though I submit a perfect dimension image. and it probably appears again now, It wasn't here last night.

UGH!
