Registered for AKL & WGN. can't do CHCH this year as it conflicts with a pool party :-(

Be sure to take care on your journey to the airport.

Bravo sir, bravo!

Chris, I'm not going to WLG this year so no brown bear taxi from the airport I'm afraid.

Try for one of the free tickets from Air New Zealand Nate!!

Wow, there's still a lot of tickets left for Wellington and Christchurch, but sold out in Auckland.
Giapo is only available in Auckland.
Coincidence?

It's because Auckland is the best city in the country.

I have many theories. The one that holds better is that 75% of our New Zealand readers are based in Auckland.

However this didn't prevent all events selling out in a matter of minutes in previous years. The main difference here is the $10 registration fee we have now... Perhaps, like the old ads vs subscription debate, some people don't see these meetups as worthy, except if free (even with pizza and beer included)...

Which obviously leads me to rethink the whole strategy for upcoming events.

Im pro the $10 fee. will hopefully reduce the number of no shows this year.. But i also quite like the adds as they are usually quite relevant!

The $10 was indeed a way to reduce the no shows. In previous years we booked venues for 60 people and closed registrations at 60 tickets, then having ten or more people not showing up at all.

These people don't realise (or didn't care) that we still had to pay for 60 people even if only 50 showed up.

The idea is that $10 registration fee will make sure we get people interested in the opportunity to meet other users and some interesting people in the ICT industry.

I agree. I think it will be an effective strategy to ensure that people registering for the event are genuine, and even if it were double the price it would still be exceptional value.

Agreed - exceptional value.

Maybe rather than it going on the bar it could go towards more prizes...?

Less registrations = more pizza and beer = happier nate Cool

$10 for beer and pizza is great value. I think the only part of the concept that needs serious rethinking is the lack of recognition of subscribers. Maybe only $5 for them next time round?
