I don't believe $10 is a huge factor however in the case of the Wellington event i believe location of the venue is a factor given it is not central. We would come however we are away for a wedding. It also seems to clash with other technical events each year. Steve makes a good point re: subscribers.

The Wellington venue not in the CBD isn't the best, but it's still not going to put me off.  And perhaps might work out well having a group of geeks car pooling to the event... just don't want to be the driver since then I will need to reduce my alcohol intake.

The venue in Lower Hutt is 50 metres from the terminal at Queensgate. There are frequent buses both ways, I don't think it will be a problem.

freitasm: The idea is that $10 registration fee will make sure we get people interested in the opportunity to meet other users and some interesting people in the ICT industry.

I couldn't do KFC; I only have it once a year, to remind myself why I only have it once a year. I've already had my 2011 allowance. :-D
