Oh to have a i5 processor would be heaven. My dear ole' dell is chugging along, I pray I could revive it with a new heart, but alas, the new heart, might not fit.  I would just have to reserect a new friend with a new heart.  I have managed to keep my ole' dell going for almost 9 years now,  but to have a new heart would be the ultimate gift to my ole' friend, the Dell.

Jeez, so many responses, everyone loves a freebie I guess.  But I deserve the i5 the most because the frame-rate of GTA IV on my ZX81 simply doesn't cut it anymore, and what with Episodes from Liberty City due out in a couple of weeks I'm in despair.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Looking to set up a media server/VoIP server for our residence.
A Core i5 would go quite swimmingly.

Having discovered a dodgey fan on the graphics card last weekend, I was off to town to source a replacement to keep the card from melting.  "Sorry we don't have PARTS" but we can sell you a replacement.  $200 bucks later and back home only to discover that this new puppy requires an additional power supply feed (damned PCIe!) so back to town to purchase the requisite PCIe adaptor cables.  Shock horror - these are listed on numerous websites, but do you think that they actually stock such things?  So the only alternative (if I want this thing working this weekend) is to purchase a new power supply that has the requisite connectors.  Back home with the new power supply and finally have a system that does not dound like a 747 with dispepsia.

Having spent the additional money I may as well replace the M/B with something a little more modern.  Winning one of these i5's will make the motherboard choice a whole lot simpler (and the whole project significantly more rewarding).

Thanks Intel -

Its time to get rid of my P4 processor and start on an upgrade path. The corei5 processor will be a great way to start building my dream PC. Gaming will be a pleasure as well as the speed of processing which the core i5 delivers!

What the hell is Intel Core i5 and what the heck does a processor do?
Seriously, I just built a HTPC and because I was working to a budget I used an Intel 2.8GHz Dual Core, so I would drop that little old i5 in place of the dual core to rev up my system, and play back MythTV without any stuttering, or having to share VDPAU processing with my GPU!! I scoured the forums in Geekzone and Googled my way into learning and building the HTPC, now I have a bad case of the "I need more power" and more gadgets, I even lashed out and bought a new AV receiver to replace my 20 year old Marantz receiver amp (which developed a buzz... I wonder if I could get warranty?)

Got a great little setup on my HTPC, just love it, unfortunately it cant keep up with DVB-T and stutters etc when trying to play it Cry. I need to upgrade to something faster to really unleash the beauty of this underpowered project.

Duron 1000Mhz. It's what I've been on since 2001... well at least it was until the the motherboard died late last year. I've been planning a new build ever since. Oh and it's my birthday on the 6th of April.

I have built up a media system to replace a standard XBMC but have since found that a P4 is not up to the task to run a TV card or the 3 that I planned to use.

This I5 would be perfect for this task.
