Was thinking it was spam as well or some kind of ad that was able to get past the membership payment etc.

I did mark it 8 and hit next but then it asked an open questions which I could not just press OK on (it wanted an answer) so reloaded the page to get rid it.
The worst question you can ask in them is "why did you pick that?" as the next question.
Might have been better to ask something like, did you pick that because of 1) Community, 2) knowledge base 3) speed of site etc with a quick yes and no by each option.  That way you get some stats on why people come here and not things like "because i like the profile pictures i can load up and the pretty colours and the winky faces on posts" which can be put in open text boxes.
Then question 3 "can we contact you if we need more info about your usage on geekzone, yes/no"

Sorry I closed it  :(

NSFW follows.

Have now collected a few responses. The number of people who replied with "fuck off survey" or "fuck you survey" or equivalent is astonishing. I am really surprised on how people react to a simple survey with one option to pick and a text answer.

Wow. The number of 9 and 10 is incredible but the people who reply with those words is sizeable - I'd say 30%. At some point I just almost shutdown this server and thought it would be making something good for the planet by doing so because people hate a survey so much it must be a horrible service.

I don't get why the opposition to the survey, it really did take me about 30 seconds to comment on a site that has given me a great deal of help

I found it no imposition at all and am amazed that there were so many ungrateful sods using this great service.

Keep on truckin' MF as there are still a lot of people who appreciate you and your site.

happy to fill out a survey to gauge CSAT

I didn't swear but I gave it a 1 or 0 because I didn't need a modal dialog box taking over 1/3  of my browser (no I didn't see or couldn't find the X to close it)

if there is a way to still do the survey let us know

Focus on the 70 per cent. You have done a great thing with GZ and most people here do appreciate it.
