It's OS is at fault? Do we know this for certain and not assumption?

It's not a browser problem?

My mobile device, while newer, has a smaller resolution yet I have no problems with the ads. Namely because the video ads don't appear at all, but the rest do and are in the right place just as with the desktop.

It's only the video ads, are not showing up in the right place in Firefox, which is the latest version and despite the hardware it runs on is older (the same screen res on all the desktops at work), this is the only website I have ever visited with video ads in the wrong place.

If it's an OS issue, fair enough. But can we clarify is this fact or assumption?

Yeah I know, XP is aging. My car is to, but I'm not going to buy another car because because the world's single tallest man can't sit in it comfortably.

What about chrome? I have had too many whacky things in firefox and its pretty minimally used now so I dont expect devs to really test for it.

Edit:

Ive logged out and used both firefox 50.something and chrome with the window sized way down to 1024x768 and neither of them showed any ads like that when I was logged out. I dont have an adblock running and got the banner ads, and when I resized it slightly wider it reflowed with more ad's.

Didnt get any video ads at all showing up so perhaps this is a non-issue now or something?

I did not play with the page zoom at all to see if that triggered the problem at all, perhaps you have a non 100% zoom in firefox to make up for the low resolution? That may cause things to not work quite right.

Thanks for the food for thought . When I zoom from 100% original, to 90%, the video ads shove off to the right hand side above the trending news subjects and a little static image stays to the right of each post where it looks like it all should be.

Yeah XP is still a dinosaur but it appears it's browser related. I wonder if Firefox robs a few pixels from page widths.

I haven't used Chrome in about 2-3 years on my desktop, just on Android. I found Chrome used to chew up a lot of CPU time doing background Google Updates. Might be time to try again.

This old machine only has 5.6GHz in it but it plonks along and decodes HD video okay. I spend all my money on studio sound cards and broadcast automation, they cost to much to replace with each OS release and they take a few years of stress testing before they are released. The one I use has only recently gone 64 bit for 7 and 8. Microsoft may release a new OS every 2 years but in time critical broadcast environments development and testing is usually an OS or two behind for stability reasons.

Anyway, thanks again to your food for thought. Much easier than Mauricio's trouble to fix. Cheers.

It's not the OS or browser, it's your resolution you said it was 1024x768, this is well below average for today's PCs, this will squash everything on the website hence why the video ad is in such a undesirable location, if you get a cheap monitor that can do 1600x900 or higher it should solve the issue, can maybe even try 1366x768, but the price between the monitors would only roughly be $20, try and find a second hand one on trademe.

The above is my best guess, not fact.

What you can also try and do is make the logout button a bookmark on your bookmarks toolbar above and then just click that when you want to logout.

Chrome is no longer supported on Windows XP since version 50 so it would be a very bad idea to use it and would probably start having compatibility issues with Geekzone, the same will be the problem for Firefox after version 52
