Why doesn't it look that much different to me? Also, I still have the problem that I don't stay logged in...

Each individual forum is marked with the same icon if there was any discussion within that has been updated.

This way you only have to follow the forums you want - better than visiting the frontpage only, and better than getting the single RSS feed.

Yes, I know that, but it still means that you have to go into each forum one after the other to see what the topics of the NEW threads are...

It takes a lot longer than having the Topic of each NEW Thread shown in a nice table together with another cell in the table showing which Forum the Thread comes from. That's the way almost every other forum does it. Why can't it be done here as well?

We only changed the menu on top and footer so far.

The automatic login was removed for security reasons and there's another discussion on this.

vBulletin > All - it has all of those features you mentioned + more. Pretty much every big forum runs it.

Not true, there are a lot of forums that are built on a Microsoft platfrom and they certainly don't run it. There is also no way I Geekzone moving to vBulletin like somebody suggested for that exact reason.

What security reasons?? It's a pain in the but now. The only website of this type that I visit that requires it..

maybe make the tabs a wee bit smaller as they use a lot of vertical screen estate,, they are currently monstrous on the small screen with weeny little text in then.

Interesting, that doesn't sound right - what OS and browser are you running? The new menu height is a little more than the old one as it's now two tier. This was done to avoid wrapping or horizontal scrolling on smaller resolutions with the large number of top level menu items Geekzone has.

the font reminds me of Times New Roman

The font is Georgia, I think it works well as a clean typface in a minimalistic design - naturally it's not going to be to everyones taste. But interestingly there has been a trend back towards more traditional fonts such as Georgia and the Times variety of late amongst designers.

Okay, well not every big forum, thats obviously overstatement. But a lot do, almost all the ones i regularly use do.

I honestly haven't been on many forums which use ASP, i actually can't think of any off the top of my head, and i've signed up on way too many forums. Examples would be nice.

Obviously vBulletin isn't right for geekzone because you've chosen to use ASP rather than PHP making integration hard, but i stand by saying that a lot of big forums do run it, and for usability purposes in my eyes it ranks above any others including phpbb, smf and many custom solutions.

I think geekzone works well and is a nice break for many of those phpbb template sites you see everywhere. Actually the only thing that annoys me is the third party component, TinyMCE as it does some strange things with editing.

my largest request would certainly be a light mobile version of the forums site which really should be showcased considering this is a mobile devices orientated site after all.

Who actualy coded GZ out of interest?

Thank you Timestyles, you have demonstrated my point exactly!

After being out working for most of the day, it has just taken me 15 mins to go through all the forums and see if any posts are of interest in each of them.

Other sites which have the Active Topics or Show Unread Posts since Last Visit function let me do this in a fraction of the time.

I didn't think I was the only one to have ever asked for this function, and now my point has been proven. Cheers.
