Also, if you are using Windows 10 and have enough storage space you could just enable the Windows Sandbox feature, open it and test there - Windows Sandbox is a clean Windows install that is deleted when you close the sandbox.

Yeah, the next step is to reinstall Comodo without the saved settings. I have Win 10 but am running Win 7 on the PC with the problem. Bugger.

You can test on the Windows 10 Sandbox anyway just to make sure it's not Comodo - this would save you reinstalling it again on the Windows 7 box.

Well, it took me the whole day going through the files one by one, but I found it! You were absolutely right, of course. It looks like a shady site (which I usually avoid) stuck some stuff in the browser preferences file when I was looking for another browser to do a specific job. That is the only time I can recall visiting such sites, and one or two did look a little questionable. The problem was that I wanted to view a link that kept complaining about ad blockers but whatever I did it still kept complaining so I went looking for a browser it would work with, and eventually found Torch (which is also a little shady). That must be what caused it. I did a search and found some Tiny links in the preferences file so I just deleted it and everything works fine now. I have to restore the preferences I actually want but all the important stuff seems to be there. Gad, what a job! Thanks very much for the helpful advice.

If you have any problems with Comodo with any sites and attempt to get support the site operator will just tell you to use a mainstream browser. There is a reason for this.

To be perfectly honest, I am not sure what Comodo gives you that Firefox won't - both are privacy focused browsers however Firefox is mainstream. Seriously, you should just switch to that. There is also the new Microsoft Edge which is a bit better in terms of privacy than Google Chrome if you wanted a chromium browser also.

And here comes the beauty of Windows 10 Sandbox. Open it, you have a full Windows machine, completely isolated from your main machine. Run whatever you want - install programs, run "shady" browsers and when you close it, it's all gone into the bits and bytes heaven (or hell).

As for what to set on Comodo, I am sorry as I have no experience with that browser and cannot advise on it.

I get what people are saying and I appreciate the tips but I do use Comodo Dragon for a reason. I have tried different browsers in the past and I do use others like Chrome and Firefox, but I settled on Dragon a long time ago for my main machine and until this recent episode, it has worked well for me. It is similar to Chrome almost to the point of being identical, except it has a few tweaks. I am used to it, I have it set the way I want it, and that is why I have kept it. I have several computers and I do use other browsers on them.

When this problem with Tiny Cloud started, I didn't know how to diagnose it and I thought it might have something to do with Geekzone's use of TinyMCE because there had been an issue with that in the past. I thought someone might be able to give me some insights about it, which is why I posted about it. Eventually I was able to pinpoint the source to the Dragon Preferences file. Replacing that with a fresh copy fixed the problem. I still have an issue with not being able to set +1 so I asked about that. I would like to know what is causing it. I think I can probably find it the same way I found the other one.

Once I have this sorted I will look at some other browsers again but I want to fix this if I can. I don't like unsolved mysteries and it gives me something to do in my old age.

The +1 is a pretty simple script really - it just posts back your +1 action to our server. We do use Cloudflare to delay loading scripts though so anything blocking or modifying scripts could be causing it.

As in the built in stand alone DNS routing solution and script/privacy blocking to help optimise the all the overseas Rights Geo-Protected streams that the other trouble assists mention eventually we are to presume?

Other than those, side by side, it seems to be a big sales pitch from someone who sells security products and collects it's own usage data for partners while firing in ads for revenue/fun.

If you have that much of a need, Should really look at changing the usage case. 1 browser for the streaming or 'need more assurance I'm hiding' / 'other' cases. And Chrome with the ad blocker etc off for nothing but GZ if time spent does indeed value a portion of a day. It's easy enough to make a custom shortcut that opens it automatically

But do note, that deferring until the 4th or 5th posts to provide vital information (like it was Comodo). And waiting until a 2nd page to announce a separate browser was installed about the same time (which makes it less of a mystery) from the get-go doesn't help others process diagnostic information, or end with a valuable potential cause/effect when there are big unknowns in the mix. Especially when not seemingly widespread to cause others to report.

As it happens, coming across the thread I was able to assume, based on similarity from others that it likely wouldn't be chrome or firefox browser already. Which come to fruition as I read. But it is the sort of thing that needs to be outlined in the first contact information.

OK, the last problem is solved. Coincidentally I had turned off the HTTP referrer. This also killed the +1. Since it occurred simultaneously with the Tiny Cloud problem, I assumed they were related, which just added to the confusion. Everything is back to normal now.
